​Mercedes Benz E500 W124 1993

Mercedes-Benz commissioned Porsche to redesign the W124 chassis and shoehorn the 5.0 litre V8 engine in along with the necessary changes on the suspension system, brakes and drive train. Porsche also assembled the cars and they are well respected as being very special.

In the day, they became the car of choice for those in-the-know; F1 drivers, heads of corporations and royalty where flashy cars were just too - well, flashy. I have owned this super discreet hotrod for over 10 years and used it regularly but sparingly.

I spent a great deal of time searching for ‘the one’ and could not have been happier when I found this; perfect colour combination, sensible mileage, well cared for and absolutely A1 provenance. It is completely standard and original and in exceptionally good condition with metallic black paintwork and a full black leather interior.

The mileage is 96,000 and all handbooks are present in the original MB history wallet along with extensive history that includes the full ownership chain. Three sets of keys with remote fobs are present and It still has its original Mercedes/Becker CD multi changer radio with books and code card etc

All MOT’s are present with the service records that fully support the mileage and the original German paperwork is also intact in the file.

There is also the original E500 Brochure and some other interesting literature. The original price list included shows that, quite incredibly, the E500 was three times the price of a normal W124 saloon!

As the hand-built 5 litre model, the specification is maximum and includes air conditioning, driver and passenger airbags, cruise control, electric steering column, electric heated memory seats, electric sunroof, electric rear sun blind, anti dazzle rear view mirror, MB radio/cassette and CD multi changer, headlamp wash/wipe, illuminated vanity mirrors and infrared locking.

This really is a superb and exceptional example of the desirable later facelift version of a truly proper car.
